Sorry that I’ve been MIA lately. It’s not because I’ve been on some fabulous vacation getaway or lost in books. NOPE! We decided to close our two story living room and make it a one story with the extra room being a gameroom. It looks quite fantastic, but it’s definitely caused havoc on my routine and that of my family.
So, naturally, one thing leads to another…right??? So, we also closed the walkway between both formals to make the formal living room into a library/office for my hubby and myself, and of course we had to paint. So, if I’m painting 2 rooms already, why not just paint the whole house! Right???
So, paint they did. And if I’m already going to put flooring in the new room, why not just do the whole downstairs, too??? So, yep…that starts Monday.
It’s like dominoes and you can’t help but start adding projects. Therefore, what started out as a 1 week project has now turned into 4 and that doesn’t include any timeframe with the flooring.
I’ll post before/after pics when everything is completed!! Right now, we have been quarantined to our master room (where the only tv exists) and the patio (where we aren’t inhaling fumes).
Needless to say, we have a crazy routine, eating take-out, and sadly, not much reading!!!
So, while trying to keep my daughter busy and out of the house, during this remodel-we ventured out to the animal control center near our area. Reading that some of the local shelters were full and do euthanize, we went to one that seemed quite over crowded. There, I was drawn to so many dogs. As we were waiting to inquire about a dog, my daughter and I were looking at the puppies. There was one dog in particular that called out to me. He was with his 2 other brothers, and while they played, he was squished to the front of the cage with his paw hanging out.
He looked so lonely and so we met him and fell in love. Then, I called my husband and son to come see him, and they agreed, he was a great fit for our family.
Well, long story short. We adopted him!!
Took him back to get his shots, and found out the adoption of the last remaining brother had fell through. They didn’t want him in the shelter and were hoping we’d adopt him. But, I couldn’t…not with 2 dogs already and I was concerned the brother would pick on our doggie. So, I tentatively agreed to foster him.
Took him home and long story short, my son fell in love with him. So, now we are the proud owners of 3 Chihuahuas.
So, another lesson learned: I’m not cut out to foster dogs because chances are 1 out of 5 of us in the family will fall in love!!
I also strongly urge everyone considering a pet, to please adopt from their local shelter!!
